Parsons
Parsons was hanged on November 11, 1887, at the jail in Chicago where he was held, according to the Omaha Daily Bee, which reported that the governor refused to intervene that same morning. The state courts and the United States Supreme Court had also refused to intervene before the execution. The Morning News reported that Parsons asked to be allowed to speak on the gallows, that he asked for a wash basin that morning and was refused, and that he ate his breakfast while a clergyman spoke with him. The same paper reported that his neck was not broken and that he was strangled.
