Orvonta Tillman
Orvonta Tillman was held at Valdosta State Prison in Georgia when he died in June 2020. According to the Georgia Department of Corrections, he died from injuries sustained in a fight with another person held at the prison, and the Lowndes County coroner initially described penetration trauma as the cause. Coroner Austin Fiveash said Tillman's family was heartbroken and cooperating with the investigation. The coroner was waiting for the GBI autopsy to determine what caused the injury and what weapon was used, and a later report described stab wounds, with the exact date of death still described as uncertain.
Cause of death, as reported: Killed by another person in custody. The Georgia Department of Corrections said he died of injuries from a fight with another inmate, and the Lowndes County coroner said he died of stab wounds from that altercation.
