Omar Valdez-Grandos
Omar Valdez-Granados, 23, died on April 27, 2026, in his cell at North Branch Correctional Institution, a Maryland state prison in Allegany County. Maryland State Police said staff contacted them that morning, and a preliminary look found him on the floor of the cell with his cellmate present. His cellmate was in the cell at the time, and police said no suspects had been announced. The State Police Homicide Unit is investigating, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was ordered to perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, which had not been determined when the reports were published.
