Octaviano Juarez-Corro
Octaviano Juarez-Corro, 49, died on January 22, 2023, while held at the Milwaukee County Jail. Jail staff found him unresponsive in his cell around 6:30 a.m., and he was pronounced dead at 6:45 a.m.; the sheriff's office said he showed no obvious signs of injury or trauma. In April 2023, a correctional officer was charged with misconduct in public office, accused of falsely recording safety checks on people held in the jail that she had not performed, and the sheriff's office said she was relieved of duty with pay pending an internal review and the criminal case. The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department investigated the death.
