O. W. Martin
O. W. Martin was held in the jail in Pixley County, Tennessee. On the night of Sunday, September 8, 1872, according to The Superior Times, about twenty armed men took him from the jail, led him a few rods away and fired twelve charges of buckshot into his body from as many guns. The newspaper report of the killing is brief and gives no account of how the jail's staff responded.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. A brief report says about twenty armed men took Martin from the Pixley county jail on a Sunday night and fired twelve charges of buckshot into his body.
