Nickie Costello, 40, died on November 5, 2026, while held in Harris County custody in Houston, Texas. The Harris County Sheriff's Office said he suffered a medical emergency and was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 3:30 p.m. The sheriff's office says the cause of death is under investigation, and the death has been reported to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards. The Texas Rangers and the sheriff's office Internal Affairs Division are reviewing what happened.
