Nelson J. Torres Morales
Nelson J. Torres Morales, 36, of Milwaukee, died on June 1, 2024, while held at the Ozaukee County Jail in Port Washington, Wisconsin. He was found unresponsive in his cell in a holding area in the early morning, after about 42 hours in the jail. The sheriff's office said staff had checked on him about four hours earlier and saw no distress. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office attributed his death to an accidental drug overdose and noted pre-existing heart and lung conditions. The district attorney said a separate review found no evidence of negligence or wrongdoing by jail staff.
