Nellie McGovern

Nellie McGovern was one of the young women held at New York's House of Refuge, a juvenile institution, and she was later buried in a hidden cemetery on the grounds of what is now the Hudson Correctional Facility in upstate New York. Researchers confirmed that the people buried there were residents of the House of Refuge, and her name is carved on a stone that was honored at a 2024 memorial service.
