Neil Sellers was 34 years old. On November 16, 1904, he was hanged at Elizabethtown, North Carolina, in a judicial execution carried out by Sheriff C. W. Lyon and deputies. Before the drop, he told those gathered that he had been brought to this fate by false friends, urged others to avoid bad company, and said he was not guilty. Doctors L. B. Evans and W. H. C. Lucas pronounced him dead about seven minutes later, and attributed the death to the hanging and a broken neck.
