Nathaniel David Carlson
Nathaniel David Carlson died on May 20, 2010, while held at the Bedford Adult Detention Center in Bedford, Virginia. According to jail administrator Elton Blackstock, his parents lost their son. Jailers found him in his cell early that Thursday morning, and he was taken by ambulance to Bedford Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Officials, including Blackstock and Bedford Police Chief Jim Day, said the death was an apparent suicide consistent with strangulation, and an outside agency and an internal jail review were handling the investigation.
