Nathan Matthews
Nathan Matthews, 41, died on July 8, 2026, in Van Buren County, Michigan. The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office said deputies stopped his vehicle on a traffic stop and that he appeared to ingest an unknown substance, after which deputies took him out of the vehicle and drove him to Bronson Lakeview Hospital as a precaution. The sheriff's office said he became unresponsive as deputies helped him from the patrol vehicle, and that doctors pronounced him dead despite Narcan and emergency care. The Michigan State Police are investigating independently.
