Narendra Singh Tomar was a 30-year-old veterinarian who had been posted as Assistant Veterinary Officer at Raisen. He died on 27 June 2015 while held at the Indore district jail. Prison officials said he fell ill that night and was declared dead at MY Hospital, while his family alleged he was brought to the hospital already dead. Prison authorities then planned to move 17 people held at the jail to another jail with better round-the-clock medical care.
