Mshari Russell
Mshari Russell, 23, died on August 1, 2012, at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Columbia, South Carolina. She was found alone in her cell unresponsive and was pronounced dead at Palmetto Health Richland. Jail staff had placed her on suicide watch as a precaution after she began hallucinating following her arrival at the jail, and the jail said staff checked on her every five minutes. An autopsy found no signs of trauma or foul play, according to the Richland County Coroner's Office, and the manner and final cause of death remain pending toxicology and further studies.
