Morton
Morton was a miner. He was held in the jail at Warren, Alabama, and when threats to lynch him spread, he was moved onto the caboose of a freight train. A mob followed the train, cut the caboose loose, hanged him and then fired bullets into his body.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. A mob cut loose the freight train caboose he had been moved onto after being held in the Warren, Alabama jail and hanged him.
