Moises Sandoval Mendoza

41 years old · died April 23, 2025 · Huntsville Unit, Walker County, Texas

Moises Sandoval Mendoza was 41 when Texas executed him by lethal injection at the state penitentiary in Huntsville on April 23, 2025. Before he died, he apologized to the victim's parents and relatives by name, and he spoke in Spanish to his wife, sister and friends, telling them, "I love you, I am with you, I am well and at peace." His attorneys argued that lower courts had blocked him from raising an ineffective-counsel claim, and his lawyers pursued a claim that prosecutors used false testimony against him, but those appeals were rejected. The U.S. Supreme Court denied a final request to halt the execution, and the state parole board had denied a clemency request days earlier.
