Moises Mendoza
Moises Sandoval Mendoza, 41, apologized repeatedly before his death to the family of the woman he was executed for killing, and he spoke in Spanish to his wife, sister and friends, telling them he was at peace. He was executed by lethal injection at the state penitentiary in Huntsville, Texas, on the evening of April 23, 2025, and was pronounced dead 19 minutes after the injection was completed. His attorneys argued that lower courts had blocked him from raising an ineffective-counsel claim, and they had also pursued a claim that prosecutors used false testimony, which was rejected. The U.S. Supreme Court denied a final request to halt the execution, and the state parole board had earlier denied clemency. The woman's mother said the execution could not undo her daughter's loss.
