Mildred Gray
Mildred Gray, a thirteen-year-old, was reported taken from the Caseyville jail by a mob of about ten men on the night of May 24, 1895. According to a short newspaper wire item, the mob carried the child to a place near Dekovel and left the body hanging from a tree. The item does not say how jail staff responded to the mob. The account is brief and its text is partly garbled, so the details of the death rest on that single report.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched
