Michael Yowell
Michael Yowell, 43, was the father of daughters, and before he died he told witnesses, including them and his ex-wife, that he loved them. The State of Texas executed him by lethal injection at the Huntsville Unit in Huntsville on the evening of October 9, 2013, and he was pronounced dead at 7:11 p.m. Shortly before, he had sued to block the state's new supply of pentobarbital, which came from a compounding pharmacy, but the courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, rejected the challenge. His lawyers said the use of compounded drugs was a dramatic change that made oversight more important.
