Died in jail or a lockup
Michael Waters
Michael Waters, 56, was held at the Lenoir County Jail when detention officers were alerted to a medical emergency in his cell on October 16, 2024. Staff and EMS performed CPR, but he went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead around 10 a.m. The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office said in preliminary information that he died of natural causes, and the State Bureau of Investigation is investigating his death.
