Michael Smelley
Michael Smelley was 16 when he died in 1966 at the Florida School for Boys in Marianna. Fellow escapee Donnie Schoffner recalled that Michael had tried to escape with three other boys, was caught and punished, and then deteriorated rapidly. Michael was moved to the infirmary after he could no longer walk and died soon after. The Grunge article says it is unclear what happened to him inside the White House, the punishment building.
