Michael Petersen, 59, died on September 22, 2014, at the Lincoln Correctional Center in Nebraska, where he was held. Staff found him unresponsive in his cell shortly after 6 a.m., and he was pronounced dead at 6:47 a.m. The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services said it believes his death was a suicide, but it has not determined the cause of death.
