Michael John Smith, 80, died on the morning of Sunday, September 27, 2026, while receiving hospice care in the infirmary of Two Rivers Correctional Institution in Umatilla, Oregon. The Oregon Department of Corrections said the Oregon State Police had been notified and that the Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
