Michael James Waller, Jr.
Michael James Waller, Jr., 31, of Savannah, was held at the Chatham County Jail. On February 8, 2026, jail staff saw him ingest an unknown substance, and some accounts say he was moved to a separate cell before he developed medical symptoms and was taken to a local hospital, where he died. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, at the request of the Chatham County Sheriff's Office, is investigating, and an autopsy is planned. The cause and manner of death have not been determined.
