Michael Iverson
Michael Angel Iverson, 42, died at Wasco State Prison in Kern County, California, in March 2022. Authorities said he died in a fight there on March 9, while a later report dates the fight to March 7. That later report says he had been at the prison about two weeks when he was moved into a dormitory housing more than 100 men, and that less than two hours later three other men held there attacked him at the same time. Correctional officers broke up the fight, but he suffered severe brain and neck injuries, and the Kern County District Attorney's Office and a county pathologist's testimony attributed his death to blunt force trauma to the head and neck. A jury later found three men guilty of assault in his death, and two of them guilty of involuntary manslaughter.
