Michael Bedel, 72, died on May 29, 2023, at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution in Tecumseh, Nebraska, where he was in state custody. The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services said he had been receiving treatment for a medical condition, and the prison announced his death the following day. The cause and manner of death had not been determined when the announcement was made. Under Nebraska law, a grand jury will review his death.
