Michael A. Poirier, 56, worked as a kitchen helper at Arizona State Prison Complex-Eyman in Florence, where he was held. On May 16, 2019, corrections workers found him hanging in his housing unit during a routine security check, with a cloth tied around his neck. The Arizona Department of Corrections said he died in an apparent act of self-harm. The death is being investigated with the county medical examiner.
