Mica Shawn Griffith
Mica Shawn Griffith, 47, died in September 2023 after a choking episode at the Wayne County Jail in Indiana. The Wayne County Sheriff, Randy Retter, said Griffith injured his head diving from a top bunk, was taken to Reid Health, and was returned to the jail under suicide precautions. The sheriff said security video shows him forcing food into his airway at lunch, and that jail staff and medics tried to clear the blockage before he was taken back to Reid Health, where he later died. The cause and manner of death remain under investigation.
