Merissa Marie Hogan
Merissa Marie Hogan, 31, of Algona, died at the Jasper County Jail in Newton, Iowa, in the early hours of September 2, 2025, a few hours after she was booked there on the evening of September 1. Jail staff requested medical care after finding her unresponsive, and she was later pronounced dead. The Jasper County Sheriff's Office said no foul play is suspected, and the cause and manner of death await an autopsy, a toxicology report and a state investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
