Melissa Chavez
Melissa Chavez, 43, was held at the Jefferson County jail in Colorado from February 6, 2022, and died there on February 9. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said she was found unresponsive in her cell early that morning. A Critical Incident Response Team investigated her death. Two deputies were suspended, and the jail's top administrator resigned.
