McLendon Caldwell
McLendon Caldwell, 68, died on July 11, 2024, at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth while in the custody of the Tarrant County Jail. The sheriff's office said he had been taken to the hospital several times for ongoing medical problems after he was booked in February. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office had not released a cause of death at the time of reporting. The state's custodial death report lists his death a day later, on July 12, 2024, so the two records differ on the date.
