Mauricio Blanco Jr. died on December 8, 2018, while held at the Falkenburg Road Jail in Hillsborough County, Florida. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, he became unresponsive just before 6 p.m. that Saturday and was taken to Brandon Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 7:20 p.m. The sheriff's office initially said the cause of death awaited a medical examiner's examination. Months later, it said the medical examiner had ruled his death natural, but it had not released the report, and the medical examiner did not respond to a request for a copy.
