Maurice Bernard White, 48, died on January 17, 2022, while held at Coffee Correctional Facility, a state prison in Nicholls, Georgia, that is run by CoreCivic. A Douglas Now report from February 1, 2022 said he was one of four people who died at the facility within several weeks. CoreCivic said the deaths were unrelated. The Georgia Department of Corrections and CoreCivic are investigating, and the cause and manner of his death were listed as pending.
