Matthew Woodyard
Matthew Woodyard was 25 years old. His mother, Connie Debriel, spent years trying to keep him safe and pleaded with state officials to move him to a safer facility because of his age and mental health needs. He died on February 8, 2025, at Trousdale Turner Correctional Center in Tennessee, shortly after being moved to protective custody because of threats against him. CoreCivic said staff found him unresponsive in his living area and that he was pronounced dead after emergency medical services arrived. The medical examiner told his mother it was a suspected suicide by hanging, but she does not believe that and is still waiting for autopsy results.
