Matthew Treat
Matthew Treat was a man whose mother, Debbie Hand, remembers him as funny and caring; she said he was her first-born of three children. He died of a fentanyl overdose in his bunk at the Lawton Correctional and Rehabilitation Facility, a private prison run by The Geo Group, in 2023. His body was not found until he had been dead for some time. Investigators later found that guards had skipped security checks and falsified records around the deaths at the facility, and the company admitted the falsification and fired the employees.
