Matthew Rutter
Matthew Rutter, 36, died at Hutchinson Correctional Facility in Hutchinson, Kansas, on August 10, 2023, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections. The department said staff found him in his cell in medical distress, began life-saving measures, and that emergency medical services pronounced him dead shortly after. The cause of death is pending an independent autopsy, and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the department are investigating. A later compiled record gives August 11 as the date of death and lists the manner as accident, a difference the sources do not explain.
