Matthew Clayton
Matthew Clayton was 30 years old. In late October 2019, detention deputies at the Cullman County Detention Center found him after a suicide attempt in his cell and sent him to a hospital. He died there on Tuesday, October 29. The Alabama State Bureau of Investigation was asked to review what happened.
Cause of death, as reported: Died by suicide. The Cullman County Sheriff's Office and Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick both attribute his death to injuries from a suicide attempt in his jail cell.
