Matthew Byrd
Matthew Byrd, 43, of Madison, died on August 6, 2025, at the Lincoln County Jail in Mississippi, where he was held, and was pronounced dead at King's Daughters Medical Center. Sheriff Steve Rushing said Byrd's injuries appeared to be self-inflicted and described the death as an apparent suicide. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation was notified and is investigating the death.
