Marvinesha Johnson, 29, died on December 26, 2020, while held at the Lerdo Pre-Trial Facility in Bakersfield, California. Coroner's reports say she took a lethal dose of the antidepressant sertraline and ruled her death a suicide. Her cellmate noticed she was not snoring as she usually did and alerted staff. She was pronounced dead at 5:20 p.m., and the reports say she had spent several days on suicide watch earlier that year.
