Marvin Bieghler
Marvin Bieghler, 58, was executed by lethal injection early on Friday, January 27, 2006, at an Indiana state prison, according to Indiana Department of Correction spokeswoman Java Ahmed. Before his death he had challenged the lethal injection method in court, arguing that it was unconstitutional. A federal appeals court had stayed the execution on that challenge, but the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the stay about an hour before the execution. The day before, Governor Mitch Daniels had rejected a request for clemency.
