Marshal Carman
Marshal Carman, 29, died in his single cell at the Marion County Jail in September 2014, about five days after he was booked and while held there before trial. His mother, Sue Lich, said they spoke often on the phone and that he told her he felt sick and needed his anti-anxiety medication. A federal lawsuit filed for her by attorney Eric Pavlack says he had a heart attack and received no medical care for hours, and that surveillance video shows deputies passing his body several times before he was moved to a cot and examined. The family says the medication was withheld before his death. The jail and its medical contractor have not publicly responded to these claims.
