Marquis Hatcher
Marquis Hatcher was 31 years old. On Friday, November 4, 2022, he was assaulted in a dormitory at Elmore Correctional Facility and died after being moved to nearby Staton for treatment. The Alabama Department of Corrections described it as an assault by other men held at the prison. A source inside the prison said he was stabbed by a group and that officers were slow to help him, an account the department did not confirm.
