Marques Davis
Marques Davis was the father of a 9-year-old daughter, and his mother, Shermaine Walker, said she called the infirmary at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility almost every day for months asking for help. While held there, he developed headaches, back pain and numbness over about eight months, later losing mobility and vision, and he died on April 13, 2017. An MRI showed widespread fungal infection in his brain. His mother's federal lawsuit against the prison's health-care provider and 14 doctors and nurses says his symptoms were dismissed as they worsened. Corizon Health said the lawsuit contains only allegations and that he was appropriately cared for, and the state corrections department declined to comment.
