Marlyn Barnes was a father of five from Gwynn Oak, Maryland. He died on April 10, 2019, while held at the Harford County Detention Center, after returning from a bail hearing at which bond was denied. According to the account in The Appeal, a correctional officer found him unresponsive in his cell with a sheet around his neck. The investigation into his death was still continuing when the article was published.
