Marktwan James Hargraves
Marktwan James Hargraves, 24, died on July 20, 2023, at the Central Detention Facility, the D.C. Jail, where he was being held pretrial. DCist reported that he was pronounced dead at 2:32 a.m. after D.C. Fire and EMS responded. The D.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later gave the cause of death as the combined toxic effects of fentanyl, fluorofentanyl and mirtazapine and ruled the manner an accident. D.C. police and the Department of Corrections investigated at the time.
