Mark Wiles
Mark Wiles, 49, was executed by lethal injection at the Lucasville prison in Ohio on April 18, 2012, the state's first execution in six months. In his final hours he spent the night on the phone, listened to the radio, wrote letters and said the rosary with his spiritual adviser, and his two sisters and a brother-in-law visited him that morning. In his final statement he prayed that his death would bring solace to the victim's family. The execution followed a long pause caused by lawsuits over how Ohio carried out lethal injections.
