Marissa Crim died on August 4, 2024, at a hospital while she was held at North Central Regional Jail in Doddridge County, West Virginia. A court filing the day after her death said the jail had informed the court that she died in custody. According to the West Virginia Center on Budget & Policy, a state response to a public records request about deaths in custody did not include her death.
