Marcus Malone
Marcus Malone, 32, was found dead in a Moss Point police jail cell on September 13, 1999. Jackson County NAACP President Curley Clark says his death still resonates in the community. A pathologist attributed the death to strangulation and called it a homicide, but other pathologists disagreed on the cause and manner of death. Three officers were indicted on manslaughter charges; the first trial ended in an acquittal, and charges against the other two were dropped.
