Marcus Gillion
Marcus Gillion, 48, died in September 2022 after about a week in Alaska Department of Corrections custody. His family says he had a known heart condition and a schizophrenia diagnosis, that he had been doing well while taking his medication, and that he liked listening to music, cooking and spending time with people. The corrections department said foul play is not suspected and that the state medical examiner will determine the cause of death. His family has contacted the department, state troopers and the Medical Examiner's Office and was told an autopsy report could take up to 12 weeks, so the cause of his death is still pending.
Cause of death, as reported: Cause not yet determined (disputed). The corrections department said foul play is not suspected and the state medical examiner will determine the cause, while his family, who say he had a known heart condition and schizophrenia and had been doing well on his medication, are still waiting for answers from the medical examiner's office.
