Mans Rainsbarger
Mans Rainsbarger was held in the Hardin County jail at Eldora, Iowa, together with his brother. Early on the morning of June 5, 1885, newspaper accounts say a mob of about seventy-five masked men took the two brothers from the jail and shot them many times. The accounts give different place names for the jail, including Marshalltown and El Dorado, and they do not agree on whether jail staff resisted or handed the men over. One telegram reports that the jail's staff did not stop the mob.
