Malone
Malone, a Black man, was held in the jail at Tuscumbia, Alabama, when a large group of men came for him on May 8, 1885. According to a wire dispatch printed in the Memphis Daily Appeal, the sheriff resisted but was overpowered, and the mob took Malone from the jail and hanged him. The dispatch is the only account of the death in these sources.
